Abstract
Objective : This study was designed to evaluate the effect of vitrectomy on the recovery of impaired visual acuity from complication of branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO).

Materials and Methods : The medical records of all patients who underwent vitreoretinal surgery for complication of BRVO and were followed up at least for 6 months posmiddleeratively were reviewed.

Results : Surgical indications included vitreous hemorrhage(20 patients), epiretinal membrane(5), and tractional retinal detachment(4). Mean follow-up was 13 months. Preoperatively, best corrected vision was greater than or equal to 0.1 in 12 eyes(41%) Six months posmiddleeratively, best corrected vision was greater than or equal to 0 .1 in 25 eyes(86%) Clinical features associated with better visual outcome include better preoperative visual acuity(P<01) and preoperative vitreous hemorrhage(P<05).

Conclusion : Vitrectomy is a good procedure for visual recovery from BRVO complication.
